End User License Agreement (EULA)

Effective date: 27 October 2026

This End User License Agreement (“EULA”) is an agreement between you and Altered Labs (“we”, “us”). It covers your use of our desktop software, including 9A9, 8A8, 6A6 and CA-78, in all formats (VST3, AU and standalone) for macOS, Windows and Linux, plus any updates, factory content and documentation we provide with it (together, the “Software”).

By installing, activating or using the Software, you accept this EULA. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software. If you bought it, you can ask for a refund under our Refund Policy.

1. Who you buy from and who licenses the Software

  1. You buy the Software from Lemon Squeezy LLC, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy handles payment, tax and invoices.
  2. We license the Software to you. This EULA is between you and us. Lemon Squeezy is not a party to it.
  3. iOS and iPadOS versions are sold through the Apple App Store and are licensed under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, not this EULA. Apple is not responsible for the Software or for support. Sections 7 and 8 of this EULA (your content and factory content) also apply to the iOS and iPadOS versions, to the extent they do not conflict with Apple’s terms.

2. Your license

  1. When you buy a license and we receive payment, we give you a license to use the Software that is:
    • perpetual: it does not expire, unless it ends under section 12;
    • non-exclusive: we can license the Software to others;
    • non-transferable: see section 5;
    • personal: for one person.
  2. “One person” means one individual. If a company or school buys a license, it must assign that license to one named individual, who is the only person allowed to use it.
  3. You can use the Software for personal and commercial music work, including paid productions, releases, live shows, streaming and teaching.
  4. The license covers the version you bought and the free updates we release for it. It does not include future paid upgrades.

3. Activation and validation

  1. You must activate the Software with your license key. Activation needs an internet connection.
  2. Each license key can be active on up to 3 computers at the same time. All of them must be used by you.
  3. To move the Software to another computer, deactivate it on the old one first. If you cannot (for example, the computer is broken or stolen), contact [email protected] and we will help.
  4. The Software may check your license again from time to time (“periodic validation”). This may need a short internet connection. If the Software cannot validate the license for a long time, it may ask you to go online before it continues to work fully. The Software does not need a constant connection.
  5. During activation, validation and deactivation, the Software sends limited technical data to our license service, which Lemon Squeezy runs for us: your license key, your computer’s name, an activation ID and your IP address. An identifier made from your computer’s hardware stays on your computer. We use this only to manage licenses and prevent misuse. See our Privacy Policy.

4. Anti-piracy measures

  1. The Software contains technical measures that check that a valid license is used. These measures may limit or stop the Software if they find an invalid, revoked or shared key.
  2. These measures do not damage your computer, your files or other software. They do not collect your personal files or music.
  3. You must not remove, bypass or disable them.

5. Transfers

  1. You cannot sell, give away, lend, rent or otherwise transfer your license or license key, except where the law gives you a right to do so.
  2. If the law of your country lets you resell a perpetual license, you must deactivate and stop using every copy before the transfer, and tell us at [email protected] so we can move the license to the new owner. The new owner must accept this EULA.

6. What you must not do

Except where the law expressly allows it, you must not:

  1. copy the Software, except to install it on your own computers within the activation limit and to keep backup copies;
  2. share your license key or publish it;
  3. reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, or try to get its source code. This does not apply to the extent the law allows it even if a contract says otherwise. For example, EU law allows certain acts to achieve interoperability with other programs (Directive 2009/24/EC, Articles 5 and 6);
  4. modify the Software or create works based on its code;
  5. remove or change any copyright notices, trademarks or license screens;
  6. use the Software to build a competing product, for example by extracting its sounds, algorithms or graphics;
  7. use the Software in a way that breaks the law.

7. Your content belongs to you

  1. Music, beats, patterns, recordings, stems and samples you create with the Software (“Your Content”) belong to you.
  2. You can use, sell, release and license Your Content anywhere, royalty-free. You do not need to credit us, and you owe us nothing.
  3. We do not claim any rights in Your Content. The Software does not send Your Content to us.
  4. If you load third-party material (for example, samples you got elsewhere) into the Software, you are responsible for having the right to use it.

8. Factory samples and presets

  1. The Software may include factory samples, kits, presets, patterns and other sound content (“Factory Content”).
  2. You can use Factory Content royalty-free as part of your own musical works and productions, including commercial releases, film, games, broadcasts and live shows. This includes using it processed or unprocessed in a mix.
  3. You must not redistribute Factory Content on its own or as the main part of another product. For example, you must not:
    • sell, share or give away Factory Content as samples, sample packs, loop packs, preset banks or sound libraries;
    • include Factory Content in another instrument, plugin or sound product;
    • upload Factory Content for others to download as isolated sounds.
  4. Using a Factory Content sound as one part of a finished track is fine, even if that sound is clearly audible.

9. Free trials

  1. We may offer a free trial of the Software, normally for 14 days.
  2. During the trial, the Software may have limits, which we describe on the product page.
  3. When the trial ends, the Software may continue to open, but it may play periodic bursts of noise or periods of silence in its audio output until you buy and activate a license. This is intentional. It is not a fault.
  4. Do not use the Software after the trial for work where noise or silence could cause harm, such as live performance or broadcast.
  5. Trial versions are provided “as is”. Section 11 does not apply to trials, except for liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.

10. Updates and online features

  1. The Software may check for updates. This sends the product, version and operating system.
  2. Updates may change, add or remove features. We will not remove a core feature you paid for, unless needed for legal, security or technical reasons outside our control.
  3. Some updates may be necessary for the Software to keep working or for security. For consumers in the EU and UK, we provide the updates the law requires to keep the Software in conformity.

11. Warranty

  1. We build the Software with care and test it, but no software is free of bugs. Except as stated in this section, the Software is provided “as is”, to the extent the law allows.
  2. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights if the Software is faulty or not as described. This EULA does not affect those rights. Our Terms of Sale & Use explain how we handle faults.
  3. Keep backups of your projects and files.

12. Ending the license

  1. Your license ends automatically if:
    • you get a refund for the order. The license key is then permanently revoked and the Software stops working with it;
    • the payment is reversed through a chargeback or dispute, or the order was fraudulent; or
    • you seriously breach this EULA (for example, by sharing your key publicly or bypassing the anti-piracy measures) and, where the breach can be fixed, you do not fix it within 14 days after we tell you.
  2. When the license ends, you must stop using the Software and delete it. Your Content remains yours.
  3. Sections 6, 7, 8 (point 3), 11, 13, 14 and 15 continue to apply after the license ends.

13. Liability

  1. Nothing in this EULA limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and your legal rights as a consumer.
  2. Subject to point 1, we are not liable for loss of data, profits or business, and our total liability under this EULA is limited to the amount you paid for the license.

14. Third-party components

The Software may include open-source or third-party components. These are covered by their own licenses, which we list in the Software or its documentation. Nothing in this EULA limits your rights under those licenses. VST is a trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH. Audio Units, macOS, iOS and iPadOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.

15. General

  1. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
  2. You must not use or export the Software in breach of export control or sanctions laws.
  3. If part of this EULA is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
  4. We may update this EULA for future versions or updates. The changes do not reduce the rights you already have for the version you bought, unless the law requires it.
  5. Questions: [email protected]. Help with activation: [email protected].
