Terms of Sale & Use

Effective date: 27 October 2026

These terms explain how you can buy Altered Labs software and how you can use our website. Please read them before you buy. If you do not agree, do not buy or use our products.

Your use of the software itself is covered by our End User License Agreement (“EULA”). How we handle your data is in our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

“Altered Labs”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Altered Labs, the maker of the Software. Contact: [email protected].

“You” means the person who visits our website or buys or uses our software.

2. What these terms cover

  1. These terms apply to:
    • the website at https://alteredlabs.net (the “Site”); and
    • the desktop versions of our software for macOS, Windows and Linux (VST3, AU and standalone) bought through the Site (the “Software”). At launch, this includes 9A9, 8A8, 6A6 and CA-78 (drum machines).
  2. iOS and iPadOS versions are sold only through the Apple App Store. Apple’s terms, Apple’s payment process and Apple’s refund policy apply to those purchases. These terms do not apply to App Store purchases, except sections 11 and 12 where the law allows.

3. Lemon Squeezy is the seller (Merchant of Record)

  1. All orders on the Site are processed by Lemon Squeezy LLC (“Lemon Squeezy”). Lemon Squeezy is our reseller and the Merchant of Record for every order.
  2. This means:
    • you buy from Lemon Squeezy, not from us. Your sales contract is with Lemon Squeezy;
    • Lemon Squeezy takes your payment, charges VAT or sales tax where it applies, and issues your invoice or receipt;
    • your card statement will show Lemon Squeezy (or a similar descriptor), not Altered Labs.
  3. We license the Software to you. Your right to use the Software comes from us, under the EULA.
  4. Lemon Squeezy’s own terms also apply to your purchase: Lemon Squeezy Buyer Terms and Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy. If those terms conflict with these terms about the payment process, Lemon Squeezy’s terms apply to the payment process.
  5. Checkout opens in a Lemon Squeezy window on top of our Site. We never see or store your full card details.

4. Before you buy

  1. Check the system requirements on the product page. We describe each product as accurately as we can.
  2. Where a free trial is available, we recommend you try the Software on your own computer first. See section 10.
  3. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to buy. If you are younger, a parent or guardian must buy for you and accept these terms.

5. Prices and taxes

  1. Prices are shown in euros (EUR) and include VAT where VAT applies.
  2. If we show a price in US dollars (USD), it is the equivalent of the EUR price and also includes tax.
  3. The exact amount, currency and tax are shown at checkout before you pay. That amount is the final price. Lemon Squeezy may charge in EUR or in another currency. Your bank may apply its own exchange rate or fees. We do not control those.
  4. EU business customers: if you buy as a business established in the EU and you enter a valid VAT ID at checkout, VAT is removed and the reverse-charge mechanism applies. You are then responsible for accounting for VAT in your country. Lemon Squeezy checks the VAT ID. If the ID is not valid, VAT is charged.
  5. Nobody else can have VAT or sales tax removed.
  6. We can change prices at any time. A change does not affect orders that are already paid.
  7. If a price on the Site is clearly wrong (for example, an obvious typing error), we or Lemon Squeezy can cancel the order and refund you in full.

6. Discounts, coupons and bundles

  1. We may offer coupon codes, sales and bundles.
  2. Unless the offer says otherwise:
    • coupons cannot be combined with other coupons or offers;
    • coupons have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit;
    • each coupon has the dates, limits and conditions shown with it;
    • a coupon cannot be applied to an order that is already paid.
  3. If you add more than one product to your cart, the cart may switch to a bundle product that contains those items. The bundle price is shown at checkout before you pay.
  4. When a price is reduced, we show the lowest price from the 30 days before the reduction where the law requires it.

7. How the contract is made

  1. You place an order when you complete checkout and confirm payment.
  2. The sales contract with Lemon Squeezy is made when Lemon Squeezy confirms your order by email.
  3. Your license with us under the EULA starts when you receive your license key.
  4. Lemon Squeezy can refuse or cancel an order, for example if it suspects fraud. If an order is cancelled, you get a full refund.

8. Delivery

  1. The Software is digital. Nothing is shipped.
  2. After payment, you receive an email from Lemon Squeezy with your receipt, your license key and a download link, normally within a few minutes.
  3. If you do not receive it within 24 hours, check your spam folder, then contact [email protected].
  4. Keep your license key safe. You need it to activate the Software.

9. Refunds and your right of withdrawal

  1. You can get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase date, with no questions asked.
  2. When we refund an order, the license key for that order is permanently revoked. The Software stops working with that key.
  3. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may also have a legal right of withdrawal. Our 14-day refund is at least as generous, so you lose nothing.

10. Free trials

  1. We may offer a free trial, normally for 14 days.
  2. When the trial ends, the Software keeps running but may play periodic noise or silence until you buy and activate a license. This is explained in the EULA.
  3. A trial is free. It does not turn into a paid order unless you buy.

11. If the Software is faulty

  1. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights if the Software is faulty or not as described. These rights depend on where you live. In the EU, this includes the rules on digital content (Directive (EU) 2019/770). In the UK, this includes the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
  2. If something does not work, contact [email protected]. We will try to fix it. If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, you can ask for a price reduction or a refund, as your law allows.
  3. Nothing in these terms limits those legal rights.

12. Updates and support

  1. We may release updates to fix bugs, improve compatibility or add features. Updates within the same major version are free unless we say otherwise.
  2. We may offer new major versions as paid upgrades.
  3. For consumers in the EU and UK, we provide the updates needed to keep the Software working as described for the period the law requires.
  4. We support the operating systems and hosts listed on the product page. We cannot promise that the Software will work with every future operating system, host or hardware.
  5. Support is by email at [email protected]. We aim to reply within a few working days.

13. Chargebacks and fraud

  1. If you have a problem, please contact us first. We can usually solve it fast.
  2. If a payment is reversed through a chargeback or dispute, or an order is found to be fraudulent, the license key for that order is revoked.

14. Using the Site

  1. You can use the Site to learn about and buy our products.
  2. You must not:
    • break the law when using the Site;
    • try to get unauthorised access to the Site, its servers or any account;
    • disrupt the Site, for example with malware, scraping that harms performance, or denial-of-service attacks;
    • copy the Site’s design, text, images, logos or code for commercial use without our written permission.
  3. We may change, suspend or remove the Site, or parts of it, at any time.
  4. Links to other websites are for your convenience. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for them.

15. Intellectual property

  1. The Site, the Software, our names, logos (including “Altered Labs”, “9A9”, “8A8”, “6A6” and “CA-78”), and all related content belong to us or our licensors.
  2. Buying the Software gives you a license to use it under the EULA. It does not transfer ownership of the Software to you.
  3. Music, beats, recordings and samples you create with the Software belong to you. See the EULA.

16. Liability

  1. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and your legal rights as a consumer.
  2. Subject to point 1:
    • we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was made;
    • we are not liable for loss of data, profits, business or opportunity, where you use the Software for business purposes;
    • you are responsible for keeping backups of your projects and files;
    • our total liability to you for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order.
  3. If you are a consumer, we are only liable for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

17. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of internet, hosting or payment providers, natural disasters, war or government action. If this happens, we will tell you and try to limit the effect.

18. Export and sanctions

You must not buy or use the Software where this breaks export control or sanctions laws. Lemon Squeezy may block orders from some countries or persons for this reason.

19. Changes to these terms

  1. We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
  2. The terms that applied when you placed your order apply to that order, unless the law allows or requires a change.

20. Governing law and disputes

  1. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in this section removes those rights.
  2. We are not obliged to take part, and do not commit to take part, in alternative dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration body. We will always try to solve a problem with you directly first. Write to [email protected].

21. General

  1. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
  2. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  3. You cannot transfer your rights under these terms to someone else without our consent. We may transfer our rights to another company, but this will not reduce your rights.
  4. These terms, the EULA and the policies they link to are the full agreement between you and us about the Site and the Software. Lemon Squeezy’s terms cover your purchase from Lemon Squeezy.
